3 Thoughts about Obama’s Birth Certificate
Welcome to my new feature, designed to get me back to writing a little bit. It’s called X Thoughts. I roll an online 12-sided dice and post that number of thoughts about a topic in the news.
I just saw Mike Luckovich’s brave, iconoclastic cartoon (that’s sarcasm) about the Birth Certificate folks so I thought I’d start with that. I rolled a 3.
A little history is in order: There are a number of people who believe that there is some legal block to Barack Obama being president because they haven’t seen his birth certificate or something.
1. This is pointless. He’s the president, and nothing is going to change that. I don’t have to like it and neither do you, but accepting it is the only way to make any real difference in what kind of damage he’s going to do to the country.
2. The birth certificate folks don’t seem to realize that once they’ve convinced somebody that there might be an issue with the president’s birth certificate, THEY STILL SOUND CRAZY.
3. Republicans who do anything but laugh and mock these people are doing great harm to the party and the country.
