My friend Kenneth used to tell of his mother: She not only humored door-to-door and telephone salespeople, she actively engaged them. She listened to them with all sincerity and took in the presentation. But her reaction was always the same: “Well, why on Earth would I want that?”
This was not her leading them on to pull the rug out from under them. She was genuinely engaged. Sounds like a fun lady.
